The major laptop and notebook makers account for the largest chunk of the notebook and laptop computer market.

Many of the major brands including Asus, Acer, IBM and Compaq do not produce their own machines. The laptops and notebook computers are usually produced by other companies. Quanta computers in Taiwan are the biggest manufacturer of laptop and notebook computers, and if you buy a major brand, their is a good chance the computer is manufactured by Quanta.

After-sales service and design are the differentiating factors between the big boys. Seeing as the parts within the machine are often almost identical and the limited number of platforms to design on, the external design and well-thought-out design of the exterior and the user interface of the computer are a huge factor.

The other factor, after-sales service is something absolutely looking into. Computers should no longer be considered hi-tech devices that are hard to take care of and maintain. They have shifted to a consumer product that is meant to accomplish a task. If it doesn’t do what it’s supposed to, then the laptop maker should step in to be your guide and sort out any major issues.
